PRAIA DE CARCAVELOS, Cascais - Portugal (Tuesday, September 29, 2015) - Stop No.7 on the 2015 European Qualifying Series, the Allianz Billabong Pro Cascais is on StandBy. A second lay day has been called with minimal surf breaking at Guincho.
“Today we’re going to let everyone get acclimated, it’s really small surf,” Dave Shipley, WSL Head Judge stated. “We have better waves tomorrow and are looking at a full day of competition. We’ll take it day by day at this stage and hope Guincho delivers the best that it can.”
With only a handful of major events remaining in the 2015 Qualifying Series worldwide, the Allianz Billabong Pro Cascais will play an important role in the qualifying campaigns of some of the World’s most talented surfers, trying to access for some or stay on the Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour for others.
Stop No.2 of 3 on the Portuguese Waves Series - Cascais Trophy that launched last week with the SATA Azores Pro, this event will also give surfers another opportunity to rack up points towards the series lead and a shot at the extra US$25,000 prizemoney.
The next call will be held at 7:00AM on Wednesday for a potential early start of the round of 96 at Guincho.
