LOWER TRESTLES, San Clemente, Calif., USA (Tuesday, September 8, 2026) - The iconic lineup of Lower Trestles returns as a pivotal Stop No. 9 for the 2026 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) World Title race at the Lexus Trestles Pro. Beginning Friday, September 11, through Sunday, September 20, the world’s best will prepare for Southern California’s high-performance haven that will push the limit for power and progression to reignite the hunt for a 2026 World Title. From iconic performances including 11-time World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) to five-time World Champion, and now No. 1, Carissa Moore (HAW), throughout its illustrious history, another exciting chapter awaits to be written.

World Title Race Returns to Trestles’ Iconic Cobblestones  After an unprecedented Pacific Leg took the Dream Tour through Tahiti and Fiji for historic performances from the likes of Erin Brooks (CAN), Seth Moniz (HAW), and San Clemente’s own Cole Houshmand (USA), the world’s best now trade heaving barrels for one of North America’s most high-performance breaks of Lower Trestles. The level of power and progression will be pushed to the limits at Southern California’s gem that lives on the border of San Diego County and Orange County.

With the San Clemente contingent, including perennial World Title contender Griffin Colapinto (USA), 2024 CT Rookies of the Year Crosby Colapinto (USA) and Sawyer Lindblad (USA), local wildcards Taj Lindblad (USA) and Eden Walla (USA), and three-time CT winner Cole Houshmand (USA), right in home waters to provide a showcase for their local support system. Following the withdrawal of Isabella Nichols (AUS) due to an injury, Walla will replace her in the draw as the highest Challenger Series (CS) ranked surfer from the North America Region.

Carissa Moore and Carissa Moore and Leonardo Fioravanti Head to Lowers As World No. 1 After their remarkable wins in New Zealand and incredible consistency throughout the year so far, five-time World Champion Carissa Moore (HAW) and Italy's leading man, Leonardo Fioravanti (ITA), now lead the rankings, leaving Fiji heading into a crucial run of events toward more World Title success. Moore’s back-to-back wins from New Zealand to El Salvador reestablished her among the world’s best and carried her new mom strength toward more success at the Fiji Pro, finishing with a Semifinal appearance.

Event Trials, Fantasy Training Session, Rising Tides, and WSL One Ocean Kickoff Event Window Before the event window officially opens, there will be plenty happening on the cobblestones of Trestles, including the event trials, Fantasy Training Session, Rising Tides initiative, and a WSL One Ocean activation. The trials will feature rising and proven talents, including Challenger Series contender Sanoa Dempfle-Olin (CAN), the youngest Super Girl Surf Festival victor Ruby Stringfellow (USA), and 2025 CT qualification threat Kirra Pinkerton (USA). Pinkerton will represent San Clemente alongside men’s trialists, former CTer Kade Matson (USA), QS veteran and surfing’s progressive frontrunner Ian Crane (USA), and current Challenger Series No. 8 Hayden Rodgers (USA), alongside 2025 CT qualification threat Levi Slawson (USA).  The WSL Fantasy Training Session will follow the trials, and feature the Couch Surfing Show for live streaming before the WSL Rising Tides initiative takes over Trestles with the next generation of surfers getting to spend time with the world’s best.
