SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland, Australia (Saturday, April 27, 2024) - Day 1 of competition at the Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro presented by GWM, Stop No. 1 of the 2024 World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series (CS) has been called on at Snapper Rocks. The women's Round of 48 will start at 8:00 a.m. AEST with the men's Round of 80 and the Snapper World Champs Heat to follow. It's set to be an exciting day of competition, with Snapper Rocks turning on super clean surf in the two-to-three-foot range. 
The opening heat of the day will see America's Zoe Benedetto (USA) take on Jessie Van Niekerk (RSA) and Keala Tomoda-Bannert (HAW), as well as local trials winner Ziggy Aloha Mackenzie (AUS). 

Heat 4 of the women's Round of 48 will witness former CT competitors Nikki Van Dijk (AUS) and Paige Hareb (NZL) take on Japanese upstart Anon Matsuoka (JPN) and Ariane Ochoa (EUK). 

When men's competition gets underway, South African duo Tide-Lee Ireland (RSA) and Jordy Maree (RSA) will do battle with Josh Burke (BRB) and Levi Slawson (USA) in Heat 1 of the Round of 80. 

Kelly Slater and The Snapper World Champs to Hit The Lineup on Day 1

The opening day of competition at the Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro presented by GWM will see 11-time World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) hit the lineup with a group of Snapper Rocks World Champions, including Mick Fanning (AUS), Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), Joel Parkinson (AUS) and Mark Occhilupo (AUS) for a 40-minute specialty heat. 

Gold Coast surf fans will have the opportunity to watch some of the sport's biggest names put on a show at one of the best waves on the planet. The Snapper Rocks World Champs Heat will commence at 4:00 p.m. local time.
