This fortress encircles the summit of Baekhwasan Mountain (284 m above sea level). Built by the Baekje kingdom (18 BCE-660 CE), it is the oldest extant mountain fortress in the Taean area. The fortress provides an excellent view in all directions and the mountain's steep slopes make it a difficult target for the enemy. Most of the fortress is collapsed with the exception of a small section near the summit. The walls were made of rectangular stones, which is a characteristic feature of the fortresses built by Baekje. Various structural remains that were found inside the fortress include one gate site, one building site, and two well sites. Atop the southern peak is a beacon station which was constructed in the early period of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910). Artifacts, such as roof tile shards, porcelain and earthenware fragments were also excavated here.

This fortress encircles the summit of Baekhwasan Mountain (284 m above sea level)。 Built by the Baekje kingdom (18 BCE-660 CE), it is the oldest extant mountain fortress in the Taean area.
