UCLA continues to be recognized as one of the best universities in the world,  according to a report published today by London’s Times Higher Education. The campus ranked No. 2 among all U.S. public universities in  the World Reputation Rankings, which assesses the international prestige of institutions of higher learning.

Among all universities, public and private, UCLA placed No. 13.

The 2015 rankings are based on a survey of 10,500 senior academics from 142 countries. Established in 2011, the reputation survey is a spinoff of the annual Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which uses 13 primarily objective indicators to deliver a multifaceted picture of university performance. Data from the reputation survey is used to form two of the indicators included in the overall World University Rankings.

Among U.S. public universities, UCLA was behind only UC Berkeley, which was No. 6 overall.

Regardless of methodology, UCLA performs well in a wide variety of rankings and is considered among the top research universities in the world.

In October, UCLA was named No. 8 overall in U.S. News and World Report’s inaugural Best Global Universities ranking; and Times Higher Education named UCLA No. 12 in its World University Rankings. UCLA also ranked No. 12 in Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s most recent Academic Ranking of World Universities.
