Episode 9 - 'Love Is Not A Maybe Thing'

Laurenは素敵なBirthdayをJasonと過ごし
2人ともラブラブですね

Heidiは。。。

Jordanとの関係を続けるべきか
辛い時期を過ごしてるみたい

今回は悩めるHeidiがLaurenに相談してる
シーンをpick up


H: Heidi L: Lauren


H: I was just like sooo.. I couldn't eat all day.
I was so sick to my stomach, thinking about what was going on
（今日は食欲がなくて何も食べられなかった）



L: I don't understand what is your fighting over like ...
（わからないんだけど、何をモメてるの？）

H: It started because he 's been treating me really bad lately ,like really bad
（彼にヒドイ扱いを受けてたの）
and I haven't said anything and I was just gonna let it go.
（でも文句は言わず流そうと思ってたのよ）

L: Boys problem are no fun
（恋の問題って厄介ね）

H: I think this is the worst problems you can have.
（最高に面倒な問題だわ）

L: It's not a question of whether or not he loves you.
（問題はJordanの愛情じゃない）
It's a question of whether or not this relationship is working.
（この関係が機能してるかどうか）
You know that whatever you do, me and Jason are gonna be there , you know that.
（どんな結果になっても私たちはあなたの味方よ）

H: Right.
（ありがとう）
A part of me is like "This is your chance out, This is your easy out, Heidi. This is it."
（私の一部は、別れれば楽になるとささやき）
and then part of me is, "No, you're really gonna miss him."
（別に自分は寂しくなるという）
and I don't know the difference. I don't know what I think.
（自分でも自分の気持ちがわからないの）

L: Heidi, regardless you are gonna miss Jordan.
（寂しさは避けられないわ）

H: Right.
（うん）

L: I mean you're gonna miss even stupid things,
（ささいな事でも彼を思い出す）
like everything in your room is going to remind you and Jordan.
（部屋中が彼との思い出なんだもの）
Love is not a may be thing. You know when you love someone.
（誰かを愛したらハッキリわかるはず）

H: I love him but there is difference between loving someone and being absolutely in love with someone.
（ただ大好きなのと心底愛するのは違うわ）

L: Are you absolutely in love with Jordan?
（心底愛してる？）

H: No...
（いいえ。)
字幕は皆さんが追いやすいようにMTVのものを利用しています）


たしかにねー

"loving someone"と
"being absolutely in love with someone"
は違いますね

大好きなんだけど
一緒にいることで
相手を傷つけてしまったり

大好きなんだけど
なんだかんだで
一緒にいることがお互いにとって
ベストなことじゃなかったり

でもそれはきっと
運命の人じゃなかったってこと
なんでしょうね


さーてッ今回のLET’S USE IT

It's not a question of whether or not he loves you.

これのポイントは2つですよ

１つ目は：
"It's not a question of～"で「～というのが問題なわけじゃない」
という言い回し

２つ目は：
"whether or not he loves you."で「彼があなたを愛してるかどうか」
の所の
"whether or not"の使い方
これは「～なのかそれとも～ではないのか」または「～かどうか」
という意味でけっこう使えますよ

たとえば
"Do you know where she is?"
（彼女どこにいるか知ってる？）
"I just saw her 10mins ago."
"But I don't know whether or not she is coming."
(つい10分前に見かけたけど、来るのかは知らない。)

ちなみに
"whether or not she is coming"は
＝"whether she is coming or not"
でもokですよ


be absolutely in love with～

"She is in love"って言うと「彼女は恋してる」
って意味ですよね

それに"absolutely"が入ると「完全に」とか「100％に」
という意味が加わることになるので
"Are you absolutely in love with Jordan?"
で「100％Jordanのこと愛してるの？」
ってことになるんですね


まあJordanと別れた後、あんなに泣いていたHeidiも
すっかり立ち直ってこの笑顔

女子は切り替えが早いですよね

Episode 8 - 'You Can't Just Be With Me?'

彼との関係も安定したLauren&Heidi....

Laurenの誕生日が近づいてる中

Lauren&Whitneyが仕事でメンズモデルとの関わりがあったことを

隠していたために....

Whitneyとの車内での会話をPick Up
Lauren(L) Whitney(W) Jason(J)


L:Ugh.

W:Is everything okay?
（どうしたの？）
L: Jordan just told Jason there was guys at that stupid model thing, and I haven’t told him yet. We went to the club that night, he asked me like "Are there going to be guys at that model casting…" and I was like "no" ...I've just never told him and I was going to tell him and I forgot…I just…ugh,,,makes me so mad
（ジョーダンが彼にモデルの件バラしたって。彼に聞かれたときモデルは女だけって答えちゃったの。正直に話そうと思ってたのに...本当にイヤになっちゃう。）
W:Well…

L:And it wasn't like I was hiding it or like I was …..it was just like,,, Jason is just like sensitive, so I can't be like "oh and there's guys there so don't be mad." Because he will get mad.
（隠すつもりはなかったのよ。彼は嫉妬深いから事実を知れば怒ると思って）
W:Right. Can't you just call him and be like "Dude, it's my birthday"
（”今日は誕生日だから許して”って言えば？）

L:No I don't because I don't feel like arguing with him. I'm just going to tell him to be mad at me, "I'm not even going to argue with you"
（言い訳したくないの。一方的に怒られてるほうがマシ）
W:He needs to get over this little trustish. Why do you think he is so sensitive?
（もっと信用しなきゃ。なぜそんな風なの？）

L:It's just like…whenever we all plan an night out, something goes wrong at the end of the day, always. Never fells.
（出かけると必ずモメてケンカになるのよ）

L:Hello hey,
（もしもし）
J:Hey little boys at the photo shoot, you liar.
（男もいたんだってな。ウソつき）
L:Please don't fire with me right now
（怒らないで）
J:I wasn't mad about that there were people like guys there, just the fact that you lied about it.
ウソつかれたことにムカついた。
L:I'm really sorry. Babe.
（ごめんなさい）
J:Baby I don't care. I could care less who's there. Tell me who's there.
（男も来ると正直に言ってほしかった。）
L:I'm sorry.
（ごめん）
J:I love you
（愛してるよ）
L:I love you too.
（私も）
J:Okay,bye.
(じゃあね）
L:bye.

L:He handled that well
（あれ？）
W:That was okay.
（珍しい）
L:He didn't even get mad at me
（怒らなかった）
W:yay
（やったね）
字幕は皆さんが追いやすいようにMTVのものを利用しています）

意外な展開
Jasonも少しは成長したのでしょうか？


今回のLET’S USE IT

I could care less who's there.
誰がいるかなんて気にならないよ。といった意味になります。

字幕では男もいると伝えてほしかったと全体を訳していますが、
どちらかというと後方の文章の意味を強く捉えています。

例：
I could care less if I was not invited to the party.
(パーティに呼ばれてなくても気にならないよ、別にいいよ）
会話の中で一言、
[I could care less]とも使います。

I could care lessとI couldn't care lessは同じ意味を持ちますが
ニュアンス的には少し違うので
その場に合わせて利用しましょう


そして、次に

He handled that well

字幕では「あれ？」となっていましたが、
うまくこの状況を切り抜けた、扱ったといったニュアンスになります。

例:
Although he was very nervous about his presentation, he handled it very well!!
(彼はとても緊張してたけど、うまくできたわね！）



さぁて、
Jasonにsurpriseでbirthdayを祝ってもらったLaurenですが
今後の二人は一体どうなっていくのでしょう。。。
