THE DAYS
あの福島原発事故を取り上げたNETFLIXオリジナルドラマです。13年前の東日本大震災後の原発事故、自らの危険を顧みず献身的に対応に当たった人々にフォーカスしたドラマです。
色々個々人で思うところがあると思うので書きませんが、僕は涙が止まりませんでした。地上波では出来ないんだろうなあ。

I watched "THE DAYS", Netflix original drama series including 8 episodes. I was really impressed with this drama, very much. I couldn't stop crying when I was watching latter episodes. It's been 13 years since The great east Japan earthquake on March 11, 2011. I was in Osaka at that time, I didn't experience how scary it was.
The story is based on the fact of Fukushima nuclear accident by The great east Japan earthquake on March 11, 2011. I think everyone should watch this drama to know what was happened there at that time, if you don't have trauma.
Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant was durable and well prepared against big earthquake. Even after the 9.0-magnitude earthquake, the power plant was well tolerated and back-up electricity worked to manage the power plant. However, the 15 miters high Tsunami hit the power plant and lost the control at all.
Many staffs of Tokyo Electric Power Company and related companies and Self-Defence Force have fought against the disaster for a couple of days. They tried everything they can do in quite serious conditions with high amount of radiation. They have worked with brave and responsibilities even most of them have family. They prioritized their tasks than their lives because of their responsibility to stop the crisis.
The drama touched on the conflicts between politicians and experts, and the hierarchy of them. Sometimes, interactions by politicians disrupted the undergoing tasks by experts. The political decisions without any consultation by experts made a wrong way, sometimes. It happened during the COVID pandemic too, didn't it?
And the drama touched on the problem the company was led and driven by a business experts, not specialists and engineers. In a crisis, these business professionals can't be accountable to explain and deal with the problem.
In 2011, the Democratic Party led the government. I am wondering if the Prime Minister Naoto Kan dealt with the national crisis well? Politicians have to respect experts' opinion and their expertise.
This drama series is Netflix original and only available on Netflix without big advertisement. I didn't know that this drama was released in June 2023. It shows a limitation of media in Japan. This kind of documentary film would have broadcasted in theaters if in the US.
I think this drama series is one of the best ever. And I respect the brave of actors and actresses of the drama for they decided to play on.
