Hi there, how are you?
I watched the movie "MOONLIGHT" on NETFLIX. The story is about the life story of a young African-American man from a boy to an adult. This is an impressive film that described a dark side of black communities. People have difficulties to live normally in the community such like drug, education, poverty and other circumstances. A main charactor Chiron are also struggle in childhood, adolecence and adulthood. His mother is into drug, he is always bullied from classmates. Furthermore he is confused to indentify his identity and sexuality. It is simple, Not every black people is strong. I cannot make a comment to the film because Japanese including me is not familiar with the exact situation of African-American how much they have been struggling. I cannot mention about "Black Lives Matter" movement as well because of same reason.
I of course hate discrimination, and also I don't like prejudice and stereotype. But we can get rid of these unconscious feeling by the correct knowledge. It would be better to watch this film as a text to get knowledge.
A young black woman who live in Japan told her opinion about "Black Lives Matter" protest to TV media. She said "Why do black people have to be scared of people only by their skin color?". It is true. I think people are diverse, should be diverse, personality is varied more than skin colors.
Thank you for reading.
I am in my family home now. I was able to come back here yesterday. It become difficult to take online English lesson because I don't have my laptop and appropriate room to take a lesson.
