I was disappointed by some of her statements in the speech she gave immediately after being chosen as the party leader.
She said, "I want all of you to work as hard as horses pulling a wagon," and "I will forget the concept of work-life balance."
I do not want a person who disregards work-life balance to lead this country.
Additionally, I am deeply concerned that her remarks may have sent a message to the world that Japan is lagging behind.
In my view, the situation is even worse and more complicated precisely because these statements came from a woman. She is unwilling to accommodate those who lack the capacity or skills to work hard.
