On Feb. 23, the national holiday "Defender of the Fatherland Day," Russian President Vladimir Putin released a footage-statement to the nationals. He said that in Russia, people of diverse origins and religions have traditionally united and fought to protect their country.
He went on to claim that the troops serving in the "military operation against Ukraine," which Feb. 24 is to mark the 4th anniversary, also carry on this tradition.
He emphasized that the greatness of the Russian forces is in "its ability to win for a common purpose."
It means that President Putin justified the military operation as a battle to defend the homeland, and reiterated his intention to achieve victory in the war.
