On Oct. 5 night (local time), former Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen arrived in San Francisco.
Media outlets in Taiwan reported so.
It marks her 1st visit to the U.S. since stepping down as president in 2024.
During her stay for around 1 week, she is scheduled to deliver a lecture at Stanford University.
The visit aims to garner support for Taiwan in the international community.

Tsai Ing-wen posted on Facebook about the large crowd that welcomed her at the airport.
She explained that >"In the coming days, I will continue to seize every opportunity, interact with more friends, and help Taiwan make more friends."
A large number of supporters allegedly gathered at the hotel too, where she was staying.
She is scheduled to give a lecture at Stanford University on topics such as democracy and security.
Since leaving office, Tsai visited Europe in 2024 and 2025 and appealed the threat posed by China and the importance of democracy.

During his meeting with PM Sanae Takaichi, Okinawa Gov. Genta Koja requested prompt convening of the "Okinawa Policy Council," a forum in which the governor and relevant cabinet ministers talk about measures to alleviate the burden of military bases and promote regional development.
The Prime Minister said that she would "take the request seriously and address the matter."
Gov. Koja revealed so to reporters after the meeting.
