In response to Sino-Japanese relations deterioration due to the Diet answering over a Taiwanese contingency by PM Sanae Takaichi, at a press briefing on Dec. 2, FM Toshimitsu Motegi emphasized that Japan has been explaining its position to various countries.
Taking it in maind that Chinese FM Wang Yi's criticism of Prime Minister's Diet answering in tele-conferences with senior government officials of foreign countries, he said tjat "The understanding of each country is extremely important. Tokyo as a whole therefore has been explaining our position on various occasions, and will do so from now on too."

He welcomed the requests by the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union and the Japan Business Federation (* Keidanren) to Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao to accept visits to China by lawmakers and economic delegations.
He said that "It's extremely important to increase dialogue and exchanges, reduce challenges and concerns, and expand cooperation. We therefore would like to promote this."
