The first meeting of the "Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT)," a newly established team newly formed by the US, Japan, S. Korea and so on to monitor the implementation of sanctions against N. Korea, was held in Washington on Feb. 19.
On Feb. 24th, N. Korean media reported that the chief of the external policy office at the N. Korean Foreign Ministry issued a statement in opposition to the meeting, claiming that >"Sanctions waiver through negotiations is not a matter of concern from long ago for the DPRK, which has no sanctions to be canceled and to be added, and it is not on the agenda of the DPRK."

> 談話は監視チームについて、北朝鮮への内政干渉を目的とした非合法的な集団だとし、特に米国を批判の対象とした。
> 関与した国は「必ず重い代償を支払うことになる」とも威嚇した。
> 監視チームは昨年10月に発足。
> 韓国外務省によると、初会合には日本を含む各国の代表らが参加した。
> 今後、制裁違反の報告書をまとめる方針。

The statement called the MSMT an >"illegal and criminal ghost group" aiming interference into N. Korean domestic affairs, while expecially making the U.S. subject to its criticism.
It threatened that >'hostile forces will have to "pay a steep price" for their attempt to block the exercising of North Korea's sovereign rights.'
The MSMT was established in last October.
According to S. Korean Foreign Ministry, representative of the member countries including Japan participated in the 1st meeting.
It has a policy to compile a report about breaching the sanctions from now on.
