It turned out that cakes from food manufacturer, "Chateraise," were sold without permission at a cafe near Saga-Arashiyama Station, a popular tourist spot in Kyoto.
Chateraise allegedly conducted an undercover investigation, and is convinced that the products are indeed theirs.
It has allegedly sent out a question-letter to the cafe, but have not yet received a reply.
A notice prohibiting resale has been posted on Chateraise's official website. However, it can't be said that thorough warnings have been given every time the cakes are sold. It therefore seems that legal action will be difficult in this case.
Chateraise commented that "We intend to take strict measures in consultation with our lawyer."
