On July 26 (as the same in Japan local time), FM Yoko Kamikawa Yoko held a meeting with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
The two sides agreed to accelerate the talk-process to resolve the issue of maritime discharge of treated waste water from TEPCO Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.
FM Kamikawa demanded immediate removal of import restrictions on Japanese food products, while Wang argued once again to establish a long-term international monitoring system for the treated waste water with the participation of all relevant countries.
> 会談は昨年11月に韓国・釜山で実施して以来。
> 両氏は「戦略的互恵関係」を推進し、外相同士の相互訪問を含め、重層的に粘り強く意思疎通を積み重ねると確認した。
> 両氏は東南アジア諸国連合（ASEAN）関連外相会合に出席するためラオスを訪問している。
This is the 1st bilateral meeting since the previous one in Busan, S. Korea, in November last year.
The two sides confirmed that they would proceed "mutually beneficial strategic relations" and continuously make persistent communication at multiple levels, including through foreign ministerial mutual visits.
The two sides are currently visiting Laos in order to attend ASEAN-related foreign ministerial meeting.
