On Dec. 1, 2020, Sanae Takaichi submitted her own bill by legislation by Diet member, "bill on the use of maiden surnames as common names" which was written by herself, to the LDP Judicial Affairs Division.
From opposing-position to the bill that would require married couples and their children to have different surnames even in family registers, this bill would maintain the "family name" of "married couples, parents and children with the same surname in the family register," while creating an environment in which "maiden surnames" can be used as common names in the workplace and in social life.
In fact, when Takaichi was MIC Minister, she checked all the laws related to the ministry in just one year, changed all procedures of 1,142 to make all notifications, qualifications and systems "OK to jointly use old surnames."
Both Keidanren and the LDP should start by studying this "Takaichi Bill."

"When I remind, the author aimed for LDP presidency at the end of the Yoshihide Suga administration in August 2021, and contributed her administrative vision titled "Japanese economy resilience plan" to the September issue of Bungeishunju. This time too, she has taken the lead and asked the public about the achievements of her work so far. I hope that candidates, who think they are the right persons in the LDP presidential election, will present their achievements to the public and their own resolutions."
