It turned out on July 10 that, on the 4th, the Japan Maritime SDF (* Akizuki class) destroyer "JS Suzutsuki" (DD-117) briefly sailed in the Chinese territorial waters off the coast of Zhejiang Province, China.
It's extremely unusual for an JMSDF vessel to sail in the Chinese territorial waters.
The vessel was allegedly warned from the Chinese side to leave there.
The Chinese forces announced to conduct live-fire training around there.
Beijing conveyed its serious concern to the Japanese side.
Tokyo notificed (* the Chinese side) through "diplomacy & defense" channels to will investigate the circumstances.
The MoD has begun an investigation, including a hearing with the captain.

Under the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, unless it doesn't engage in any acts that endanger security of the coastal country, the right of "innocent passage" is accepted to sail in the territorial waters of that country.
It therefore seems that the case of the sailing by JS Suzutsuki doesn't fall with violation of international law.
It is unclear whether or not the sailing was intentional.
Official(s) of Tokyo explained that "At the very least, it's no problem legally."

In our covetage, the MoD commented that "We would like to refrain from commenting on that, as it's the matter related to the operation of the SDF."
Beijing has been conducting detailed "information gathering & analysis" internally, as it can't deny the possibility of "intentional provocation" by the MSDF vessel (Chinese source(s)).
