In the 2009 LH general election, the LDP lost 181 seats from 300, actually losing two-thirds of the seats and ended up with 119 seats.
Under the Abe administration, the LDP recorded six consecutive victories in national elections, the 1st achievement in the history. However, the conservatives & pragmatists, who supported this, have completely abandoned Kishida "leftist" policies.
No matter who considers, Sanae Takaichi, the only person who can bring back the conservatives & pragmatists, is the successor.
It will be tricky as China and the Komei Party have been moved to block her.
The LDP presidential election is turning into a battle between "pro-China" forces and "Takaichi."
