Non-fiction writer Naoki Kato said that "The memorial monument is the starting point to face (* not 6,000 or more, but 231 or so) victims and think about what happened" and appealed that it should be protected in the future (* while the number of the victims must be corrected, at least).

A memorial monument was erected in 1973 in Tokyo Public Yokoamicho Park (Sumida Ward, Tokyo), and a memorial service is held every year on Sept. 1.
To the ceremony, the successive Tokyo Governors sent a memorial writing. However, Gov. Yuriko Koike has not sent since 2017.
Kato pointed out that an organization (* >"そよ風") that claims to correct the number of the victims (* not justify the perpetration) has continuously carried out activities aiming to removal (* or correction) of the memorial monument and cancel the ceremony.
