On May 24, an official of S. Korean forces revealed that >"As apparent signs of preparations for the launch of North Korea's purported military spy satellite have recently been detected in the Tongchang-ri area, South Korean and U.S. intelligence authorities are closely monitoring and tracking related activities."

Last November, N. Korea launched a military reconnaissance satellite, "Malligyong-1" loaded on the transportation vehicle, "Chollima-1," from the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground in Tongchang-ri (* in northwestern N. Korea), and put it into orbit around the Earth.
It has a program to launch additional three ones this year, but timing isn't predicted.
In April, mass media in S. Korea reported that, as a talk from a governmental source, N. Korea had practically completed the preparation for the launch.
There was growing forecast that it would be launched within that month. However, after that, no noticeable moves were confirmed.
