On May 13, Chinese FM Wang Yi held a meeting with his S. Korean counterpart Cho Tae-yul in Beijing. Taking it in mind that the U.S., Japan and S. Korea have been upgradinging their cooperation against not only N. Korea but also China, he said that "The difficulties and challenges in Sino-S. Korea relations have clearly increased" and kept S. Korea in check, which is increasingly leaning toward the U.S. in security field.
It the 1st visit to Beijing by S. Korean foreign minister in six and a half years.
The two foreign ministers sought to restore Sino-S. Korea relations, which has deteriorated rapidly under the Yoon Suk-Yeol administration in S. Korea.

FM Wang Yi said that "(external) interferences should be eliminated" from the bilateral relations, and warned (FM Cho Tae-yul) not to be influenced by the U.S.
FM Cho Tae-yul appealed that it's necessary to work together to address common issues such as the N. Korea issue.
According to S. Korea's Foreign Ministry, the two sides agreed to cooperate for the Sino-Japan-S. Korea summit, which is under coordination to be held in the later half of this month.
