On April 23, the Chugoku Electric Power Co. (aka EnerGia), which plans to construct an interim spent fuel storage facility in Kaminoseki Town in Yamaguchi Pref., released to have begun a boring survey to examine the geology at the planned construction site in a company-owned land in the town.
The EnerGia will inform the town authority of its suitability for construction, along with the already underway literature survey.
Based on the results, the town authority explains to make a decision on whether or not to accept the construction at the council.

Town Mayor Tetsuo Nishi, who was covered by reporters on that day afternoon, explained that it's impossible to conclude to accept that immediately, even if the town is judged to be a suitable place.
He showed an intention to consider to hold a resident briefing session including the central government and the business operator.
Pref. Gov. Tsugumasa Muraoka also said that "I would like the business operator to carry out the investigation after paying sufficient consideration to the request from Kaminoseki Town."
