On April 22, Taiwanese ruling the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Michelle Lin Chu-yin revealed on her Facebook that wife of late former PM Shinzo Abe, Akie, plans to visit Taiwan in May in order to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony on May 20.

In July 2022, President-elect Vice Presidnet William Lai Ching-te attended the Abe's funeral as a "close friend."
Akie visited Taiwan in last July and held a meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen.
Five Taiwan's legislators including Michelle Lin visited Japan this time in order to participate in a memorial event of Abe.
They met Akie too.
