In a lawsuit filed by 15 persons, including bereaved of former S. Korean conscripted workers, to seek compensation from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for being mobilized from the Korean Peninsula and forced to work during Japan's colonial period, on Feb. 15, the Gwangju District Court in S. Korea handed down a sentence ording to pay compensation.
It ordered MHI to pay around 19 million to 100 million won (approx. \2.13 to \11.24 million) per plaintiff.

In similar kinds of former conscripted workers lawsuits, from last December to January this year, the Supreme Court of Korea handed down sentences ordering Japanese companies to pay compensations one after another for the 1st time in around 5 years.
At lower courts, there are arond 1,000 plaintiffs in pending lawsuits.
