This month marks six months since Japan began maritime discharge of (* not) radioactive treated waste water from TEPCO Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, but it turns out that agricultural and fishery products purchased by citizens of Seoul, S. Korea, are "safe" in terms of radioactivity.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on Feb. 5, all the results of the analysis by the radioactivity testing laboratories operated by Seoul and 25 local governments were judged to be "suitable."

At present, the Seoul City authority has totally 10 staff at the main laboratory and Gangnam branch of the Seoul Research Institute of Public Health and Environment and carries out radioactive test.
In addition, inspection stations of the "Noryangjin fisheries wholesale market" and "Garak market" are entrusted and operated by the fisheries cooperative and Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. respectively.
Furthermore, it has established and operated radioactivity testing stations in all 25 autonomous districts in Seoul City.
