Concerning that N. Korea fired artillery shells in the northern part of S. Korean territories of Baengnyeong island and Yeonpyeong island, at a press briefing on Jan. 5, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson (* Deputy Director of the Foreign Ministry Information Department of China) Wang Wenbin said that >"Under the current circumstances, we hope that relevant parties will exercise calm and restraint."
He didn't criticized the N. Korean side.

On the other hand, concerning that the U.S. revealed that N. Korea provided Russia with ballistic missiles and launchers and they were use in attacking Ukraine, he only said that >"I do not know of the cooperation you mentioned."
After that, he argued that >"We hope all parties will work on ways for deescalation and create the conditions for working towards a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis."
