Defendant Jeong Myeong-seok (78) -- the President of the Christian Gospel Mission (aka the Jesus Morning Star (JMS)), who was prosecuted with sexually assaulting and committing indecent acts on multiple female members -- was sentenced to a heavy imprisonment.

On Dec. 22, the Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 12 (director-judge Na Sang-Hoon) sentenced defendant Jeong Myeong-seok, who was prosecuted with quasi-rape and forceful indecency, to 23 years in prison.
Other than sexually assaulting a Hong Kong native female 23 times at such as a training center in Geumsan County, South Chungcheong Province, from February 2018 to September 2021, defendant Jeong Myeong-seok was arrested and prosecuted for molesting an Australian female believer (30) and a S. Korean female believer(s).

It turned out that defendant Jeong Myeong-seok claimed to be the Messiah and committed the crime after brainwashing his followers.
The defendant denied the contents of the indictment, saying that "The female believers were neither brainwashed nor unable to resist. I repeatedly preached to them that I was human being."
Prosecutors had asked for a sentence of 30 years in prison, saying that "It's a heinous act, such as committing sexual crimes against many female believers."
