To ensure the best web browsing experience possible, the software engineers at Google created a search ranking algorithm that thinks like Internet users. If you’re in an industry where most companies are including keywords in domain names, then it’s probably in your best interest to follow suit. All business websites are different and there is never any ‘One Size Fits All’ solution to how you should be structuring your SEO campaign or the types of SEO services you should be employing. Thin content tells a search engine that your sitepage doesn’t have much to offer. As a result, those sitepages are ranked poorly in the search results. Sparse content is mostly characterized by a poor content (text) to code ratio. The common rule of thumb dictates that the amount of text on a website should not be less than 25 percent.

Any business with a bonafide brick-and-mortar location is eligible for a Google My Business listing at that location. For businesses with two or more locations, each location would be eligible for a distinct GMB listing. Rather than targeting a broad audience, local SEO is about chiseling down and honing in your reach to target a specific group of people living in a certain area. Old-school SEO focused on keywords. New-school SEO focuses on high click-through rates, “long clicks”, freshness, and amplification...which are all signals that users are successfully finding the answers they’re looking for in your content.

We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "The Google algorithm incorporates hundreds, if not thousands, of signals when determining where pages rank for a search. Knowing which factors carry the most weight and optimizing accordingly can be the difference between success and failure." Duplicate content as an SEO issue is a major factor. Duplicate content is when more than one page has the same content. Basically, don’t try to spam the same content across your website as this doesn’t arouse Google’s attention. This includes keywords (yes, we recommend you use keywords a number of times across your site but don’t go overboard and focus on just repetitive keywords.) Link-building can also come from building a targeted and involved community. The more regular visitors a site has, and the more passionate those fans are, the more likely webpages will be read, shared, and linked to. As you gather intel on your website’s audience, the competition and commonly used keywords, it’s up to you to make informed decisions to determine which SEO strategies make sense for your business. Staying relevant is crucial to ensuring your website visitors are happy with what they find on your site — but don’t let staying relevant keep you from taking keyword risks and trying something the competition isn’t doing. SEO is important for every website that wants to attract traffic. SEO for non-profits, in that regard, isn’t that different from SEO for other businesses.

Make sure that all of your web pages can be indexed by search engines - make sure that they all have at least one link from somewhere on your site. Many beginner bloggers and webmasters think that they need to churn out lots of content on a regular basis. But the truth is that quality will always trump quantity. Link Building adds a level of credibility to your website which just isn’t present without those links to reliable information sources backing up whatever claims you’re making back on your own website. Everyone knows not to trust everything they read on the Internet, but finding other sites saying the same things sure doesn’t hurt.
