Ensure that your site loads quickly, not just where you're located, but from around the world. By properly using HTML tags, on-page linking, and internal backlinking, you can streamline your site to best serve your customers. By creating relevant content that guides users through the marketing funnel, you can improve sales and generate more interest in your brand. High authority links are great, but in my opinion, relevant links win the game every time. Prioritise content marketing. That's publishing valuable content on your website. These can be articles, blogs, white papers, videos, infographics or other interesting information that can be shared with your network via an e-newsletter or social media. Doing this will create backlinks naturally. Understanding which ranking factors are relevant to your industry is key to becoming an authoritative domain – especially in the competitive industries of e-commerce, finance and health.

Even after all of the changes with the search engine algorithms, inbound SEO links are still the biggest influence for search engines. If you want your content to stand out from the glut of online content and attract the kind of shares and links that boost search rankings, you’ve got to create epic content or “10X Content”. Most of the content that ranks in the top 10 of Google is over 2000 words in length, so you need to create long-form content. There are as many ways to build links as there are types of website. Thanks to Google’s crack-down on creating spam links, many old tactics no longer work. Now much of link-building is good old-fashioned marketing – promotion and PR. In the past, Google’s algorithm was not quite clever or sophisticated enough to ignore the poor quality links these techniques garnered but that is changing. The Panda and Penguin updates represent perhaps Google’s most aggressive attempt to clean up its search results and in turn, this is having a major impact on the approach that needs to be taken to link building in particular. The underlying content is extremely important. Too many people skimp on content, but it's one of the major anchors that tether you to Google's relevancy algorithms.

You search ranking depends not only on the search term used, but also on where and when you perform the search. You see, when you go to Google.com and type a search, there isn't just one computer answering the name Google.com. If there was, it would have to be the fastest computer ever made. There are just too many people searching, so, each search request is divided between thousands of servers around the world. Frequently, to speed things up, your search will be directed to the server physically closest to you. But, if this is busy, it will be redirected to a less busy server. Consider writing a piece of guest content, not for your own site but for a relevant, external site. However, as with everything, prevention is better than cure.
