page consisting of just a few sentences is less likely to get to the top of a search engine list. Search engines favor sites that have a high information content. Generally, you should try to increase the text content of your site in the interest of seo. The optimum page size is 500-3000 words (or 2000 to 20,000 characters). Meaningful content that operates as part of a wider digital marketing strategy, with the likes of social media and blogging all playing a part, is now key. It’s easy to assume that Google already understands the content and relevance of each and every page on your website, but the fact is that it needs a fair amount of hand-holding. Fortunately, helping Google along really isn’t very difficult at all. RankBrain and other machine learning systems examine user behavior to deliver the “best” search results possible. Unfortunately, what’s deemed best for one query might not be the best for another, which makes machine learning very difficult to optimize for. If the competition in your niche is high, you’ll have a hard time ranking on competitive head terms. If you have little competition, you’ll even be able to rank for head terms. It sounds so very easy!

Google wants to see that people are spending time on your website

If a search engine recognizes cloaking it will penalize the website by permanently removing it from the search engine index. The website will no longer appear in search results. In the past, Google has stated that the country within which a website is hosted is a very small factor in their international ranking algorithms. So try to have servers set up in your target countries. For example, if your company is based in the UK and you have a .fr extension of your site, have the .fr domain extension site hosted on a server in France. Some SEO professionals have been predicting the demise of links for a several years. But there’s little evidence to support this trend so far. Using tools such as Copyscape will help you find if someone has plagiarised your content. If that happens, you should ask the admin to remove the part of the content from the site. If they’re not willing to do that, report them to Google. On page SEO of course refers to all the strategies that you can use within your pages to get Google interested in your site. This begins with content – and it begins with having a stronger understanding of the subtle changes Google has gone through in recent times.

Google recommends quality content

Like many of the other parts of the page targeted for optimization, filenames and alt text (for ASCII languages) are best when they're short, but descriptive. When Google returns its search results, it produce two types of results: organic results and paid results. Organic search results most closely match the user’s search query based on relevance as deciphered by Google’s search algorithm. Also known as natural search results, ranking well in organic results for relevant and valuable search terms is the goal of SEO. Backlinks are the foundation of Google's algorithm for determining a site’s page rank. How do site changes effect SEO? Mobile does not necessarily mean on the go. Studies find that people often grab the nearest device to look something up and in most cases that’s their smartphone. Longer content tends to rank significantly higher on Google’s first page. Make sure all of your articles have 1000+ words of useful content. Longer content helps you rank better for your target keyword and brings in more long tail traffic.

Relevance, not quality

According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant : "Google’s mission is to organize the worlds’ information and make it universally accessible and useful. Therefore, Google wants to show a user the best result possible, the result that best fits their search query." Make sure that your site’s structure and hierarchy are as clear and logical as possible, with your homepage as the “root” page (the starting point). Google pays attention to third-partyexpert testimonials from independent sources – reviews, references, news articles. Recommendations from professional societies, are strong evidence of very positive reputation. One of the recommendations I frequently give as an SEO consultant is to optimize your images. A lot of websites have images that are relatively large, which take a lot of time to load. Resizing your images can speed up the loading time. By starting a blog  or taking an existing blog up a notch — you can increase your influence and establish stronger relationships with potential and current customers.

It’s a win-win SEO strategy!

SEO and positioning your website to rank top spots in the search engines require some careful planning. Just like setting up a business or going to war, it requires strategizing for optimal results. The more pages you have give you more of a chance to rank well for a more diverse set of keyword phrases: this should technically lead to more traffic from Google, Yahoo and Bing. If your target is international try to get links from sites hosted in as many different countries as possible. The same is true if you target local audiences, get as many links from sites hosted in the country you target. While changing the URL and metadata for your content isn’t exactly using social to win at SEO, to us it’s all the same process. That’s because within our CMS we’ve created tools that set up SEO right from the Entry Editor — before the content is even published. According to Google, no-follow provides a way for webmasters to tell search engines Don't follow links on this page or Don't follow this specific link. This helps websites prevent untrusted content or paid links.

Boost Dwell Time

One of the most important elements to building an online marketing strategy around SEO is empathy for your audience. Once you grasp what your target market is looking for, you can more effectively reach and keep those users. Dominating the top rankings for general keywords related to your brand may be out of your reach, but even a slight investment in SEO can help your business earn more traffic and visibility. Yes, contextual link building is important, because they boost results on search engines. But, the number of links on a particular content page also matters to Google. I’d rather have a more relevant link with low authority. I’d hope that was better for traffic, but I’d not really expect it to have the same effect on rankings as a higher authority link with lower relevance. Staying on top of SEO takes a lot of research and experimentation. Google’s algorithms are constantly updated so it’s important to stay tuned into the latest news. With this in mind, and a bit of practice, you can become your own SEO expert.
