YouTubers and Chefs: Japanese Kids Name Dream Jobs
A survey has found Japanese kids' dream jobs, and how the jobs they want change as they get older.

Employment agency Adecco asked 900 schoolchildren what jobs they want to do when they grow up.

For elementary school boys, the most popular job was "YouTuber," which was chosen by nearly 9%. In second place was "soccer player" with a little over 7%. Third place was shared by "police officer or detective" and "driver," with nearly 7% each.

But things were much different among junior high school boys, with both "company worker" and "public servant" topping the list with just over 17% each. And in third place, a little over 15% of boys said they want to make computer games.

The most popular job for girls in both elementary school and junior high was "pastry chef." Over 20% of elementary school girls chose pastry chef as their dream job, as did almost 19% of junior high school girls.

The second and third most popular jobs among girls in elementary school were "teacher," with 10%, and "doctor" with just over 7%. For junior high school girls, however, the second-place job was "company worker" with about 15%. And in third place was "public servant" with 12%.

The survey also asked students about the school subjects they liked and disliked. Math topped both lists, as 19% said they loved it and 24% said they hated it! Art and gym class were the second and third most popular subjects. Japanese was the second-least-liked subject, followed by foreign languages.
