Frost and frost columns
I knew the difference between these two words. I don't see many frost columns because there is less soil around me. During my walks with Elenoce, I had more opportunities to walk under the trees, and I often saw frost columns. Frost is when the air cools and the water in the air freezes to the surface of the earth. What about frost columns? When the surface of the earth freezes, the moisture in the ground is sucked up by capillary action and freezes, resulting in a frost column. When I think about it, I'm surprised that there's water in the ground.
