Introductions
Hi everyone, I know you’re all really busy, so thanks for taking the time to come here today. As you probably know, I’m Aya Yoshikawa from sales department at Gifu branch. This evening, I want to explain “how to support developing countries as a banker?” There are three points I want to go over today, first learn about developing countries, secondly lending via project finance, and last, join our volunteer team. Feel free to stop me at any point if you have a question. By the time we finish, you will have all the information you need. So, let’s get started.
Main body
There are three main points to explain. The first is learning about them. The second is lending via project finance. The last is joining our volunteer team.
First, let’s begin by learning about them. There are many tools at our bank to get information of them. For example, have you ever seen some reports published by researching department? You can read many reports about developing countries through our bank’ website. Imagine that if you want to know more about Latin America, what do you do? Surf the internet and type some words on Google? It’ll take too much time and some information may be false. On the other hand, if you visit our bank’s website, you can get it quickly. Some of them are written by specialist so you can trust the information. So I just talked about visiting our bank’s page to learn about developing countries.
Secondly, I’ll go over lending via project finance. We usually use this scheme when a amount of money is over 100billion yen, expect high return and mostly a purpose is to finance for publish utility. For instance, we lend money to a developing country to build a power plant, to draw a pipeline etc. When you use this scheme you must work with people in structured finance department because they are professional. Actually I can’t lend via project finance now because my customers aren’t big enough, I guess you neither. I just let you know this is a way of supporting developing countries financially. So if you are interested, why don’t you transfer to the structures finance department to finance directly to these countries?
Finally, my next point is joining our volunteer team! Our bank has three volunteer teams depends on religion. I join a Nagoya volunteer team, another is Tokyo and Osaka. Around twenty people join a Nagoya volunteer team. Our bank has donated for some NGO such as encouraging agriculture of developing countries. Many students from there study agriculture here in Japan. After a year they’ll be back to their each country and take advantage of their knowledge. Sometimes our bank gives volunteer members oppotunity to talk with them. To sum up, join our volunteer team, and you can talk with people from developing countries!
Conclusion
I’ve now come to the end of my talk. At the start, I told you that I would explain ways to support developing countries as a banker, now you’ll get them. You can do some of them from tomorrow. Let me say it again, learning about them by reading reports on our bank’s website, lending via project finance and joining our volunteer team! Thank you very much for listening today.
