桜を見に神山町に行くのですが、桜見の時期が終わってしばらくすると、植樹祭の季節になります。
桜の美しさで、人々から愛されている森林公園は、全国植樹祭、全国育樹祭の会場になった公園でもあります。
よく、被災地への天皇陛下・皇室の方々の行幸啓等が報道されていますが、今に始まった事ではありません。

いにしえより、大災害・戦乱の都度、美しく豊かな国土取り戻すために、天皇陛下が全国を
行幸（ぎょうこう）されて植樹を行われたことが、神話等で語り継がれています。これが、今も全国植樹祭として再開されたのでは、と、考えています。
（戦禍消えない国土復興の為に、昭和天皇の発案で、全国植樹祭が開催されることになった。との、テレビ報道が昔ありました。）

平成元（1989）年5月21日に、ここ、神山森林公園で、第40回全国植樹祭が「やすらぎの緑を未来へ」をテーマとして開催されました。
当時の（平成）天皇陛下と皇后陛下の、上皇陛下ご夫妻の行幸・行啓があり、スギの苗と、ヤマモモの苗を「お手植え」、スギの木とクスノキの木を「お手播き」を、して下さいました。

平成16（2004）年10月24日）には、今上天皇（きんじょうてんのう）陛下で、当時の皇太子殿下の行啓により、第28回全国育樹祭が開催されました。

古より、私たちは自然の大切さを知り、天皇陛下を先頭に、植樹などの国土の保全に努めてきました。私達も未来に向けて、人と自然との絆を大切にしていたいものです。

全国植樹祭は、
国土緑化運動の中心的な行事として昭和25年以来、天皇皇后両陛下の御臨席のもと、全国各地から緑化関係者等の参加を得て、両陛下によるお手植えや参加者による記念植樹等を通じて、国民の森林に対する愛情を培うことを目的に毎年開催されています。
