While some are known for their themes, others are recognised for their colour schemes and innovative ideas. But what makes someone an artist is the person's participation in the creation of a piece of art. Abstract, figurative, contemporary and realistic, one can glimpse all these and more at an art exhibition at the Poonawalla Gallery. About 10 new works by seven popular artists are being showcased.

Viewers can discern themes ranging from nature, sexy lingerie china human emotions, traditions, abstracts to spirituality and religion in the paintings.
While the artworks made by Rekha produce a strikingly lustrous 3D effect, Kudapune's abstract work makes one feel that the artist took chaos, bathed it in oil and then trapped it onto his canvas. His colour scheme on the other hand is subtle, yet the effect is pleasing.
Rajesh Kulkarni's works with clay are pleasure to the eyes. Explaining the thought behind them, he says, "The masks are expressive works and they reflect the mood the artist is in while modelling the clay."
Excited about the exhibition, the owner of the beautifully crafted sanctuary of art, Abbas Poonawalla says, "The artists portrayed are experienced and the demand for such works is rising because of the development of people's tastes and also because people have more money now. I have been in this field for the past 20 years, and back then people used to demand only prints, but now people want to buy paintings. Today, originality is valued and that Chloe Replica is a big change."
(The exhibition will be on till August 27, at the Poonawalla Art Gallery, Clover Centre, Camp.)
