CHART-TOPPERS The Wanted have gone from strength to strength since they were catapulted into the music scene.
coachThe boys Tom, Siva, Max, Jay and Nathan have had a busy summer. Not only have they performed at a variety of festivals, the lads recently returned from Germany, performed at Hull's Freedom Festival in front of 80,000 fans and took to the stage at the Heroes Concert at Twickenham.
Speaking to What's On reporter Selina Maycock, backstage at Hull's Freedom Festival last weekend, band member Tom Parker, 22, reflected on the band's instant success.
He said: "Our success has been pretty mental, but it's amazing - it's been non-stop. We didn't expect it to be this sudden."
In July, the group stormed the charts at number one with their debut single All Time Low "We were nervous in the week leading up to the release because we didn't know how it was going to do," said Tom. "We went in at number two in the downloads chart and then number one in the official Radio One Top 40 chart.
"We want to say a big thank you to all our fans."
The group's video for their second single Heart Vacancy was released on Monday and an album will follow later this year.
"We're hopeful that the album has got a bit of something for everyone. We finished writing it in May/June, so we can't wait for it to be released."
Some fans might remember Tom from his days as replica clothing a member of Take That Two tribute band, which gigged across the country. The band performed at The Light in Scunthorpe after he left. Tom said the tribute shows stood him in good stead for his success today.
"Take That Two gave me the stage confidence and it's given me the drive to just go out there and do this. I had no experience before, so it's helped," he said.
The Wanted are preparing for a trip to America next week for a meeting with Mercury music company and have already played the I- Tunes festival in San Francisco.
But Tom said his highlight to date was the band's performance in front of 70,000 fans at Wembley and London's O2 Arena, not to mention their debut single riding the charts at number one.
