先日、伊豆の観光施設として江川邸を御案内しました。
江川家３６代江川太郎左衛門英龍（坦庵）が、
ペリー来航により日本に迫る諸外国の艦隊に備えるため、
江戸内湾台場（お台場）をはじめとする砲台に設置する鉄製の大砲を鋳造する、
反射炉と呼ばれる鉄を溶かすための溶解炉の建設に携わりました。
江川邸から車で数分の場所にある
国指定史跡 韮山反射炉
のご紹介です。
We have introduced The Residence of Egawa,
a popular sightseeing spot in the previous blog. Today, we will feature
Nirayama Reverberatory, National Designated
Cultural Asset, located several minutes drive from The Residence of Egawa.
Egawa Tarozaemon Hidetasu (Tanan), the 36th generation master and the magistrate of Izu district, built a reverberatory, a furnace to melt metal to make cannons placed at the fort in Edo Bay, now Odaiba, in the necessity of national defence against foreign countries along the coast since the arrival of Perry's Fleet in 1853.
江川坦庵は、ペリー来航の時代で、坂本龍馬の父親くらいの年代。
偶然にも、龍馬の父八平と亡くなった年が同じです。
Egawa Tanan lived in the era of Perry's Fleet arrival and the same generation as of Sakamoto Ryoma's father. By coincidence,he died in the same year when Ryoma's father, Hachihei, died
こちらが韮山反射炉 Nirayama Reverberatory
地元小学生のほとんどが、社会科見学で訪れる場所。

1864年に使用が中止されるまで、数多くの鉄製砲が鋳造されていました。
江川坦庵没後５０年の明治３８年ころから、破損の進む反射炉の保存運動が始まり、
明治４２年にまわりを補強した反射炉が完成します。

Until the operation discontinued in 1864, many cannons were made here.
In around 1905, fifty years after Tanan's death, the promotion of conservation activity started and the maintenance completed in 1909.
新井旅館に残る明治４２年～昭和５年の間の反射炉の写真
先ほどの写真と見比べてください。
Below left is the photo stored in Arai Ryokan,filmed sometime between 1909 and 1930.
昭和５年の北伊豆地震で煙突上部が一部崩壊してしまったので修理をしています。
その後昭和３２年・６０年・平成元年に補修が行われています。
Upper part of chimney was damaged by the earthquake in north Izu in 1930 and later in 1957, 1975 and 1989, the maintenance were made
歴史的建造物が多く残る伊豆へ、どうぞお出かけ下さい。

反射炉の横の蔵屋鳴沢さんでは、茶摘み体験が出来たり、地ビールの販売もしています。
At Kuraya-Narusawa located next to the reverberatory, you can enjoy tea leaves picking.
Also, they sell house-brewed beer.
