新井旅館の創業は、今から１３７年前の明治５年。
今日まで、沢山のお客様にご利用いただきました。
その間、今で言う文人墨客の方々ともお知り合いになりました。
その方々が残した書や絵画も数多く残されています。
Arai Ryokan was established in 1872., 137 years ago,
and hosted thousands of guest in the long history.
Celebrated writers and artists are among these many
guests and a special friendship with them has lasted
for long. The ryokan houses the collection off art pieces
by these artists.
今までもいくつかブログに載せておりますが、
説明を入れながら、少しづつ紹介していきたいと思います。

まずは、玄関ロビー内
At the lobby:
名月荘 あらゐ 龍子題
Meigetsuso Arai by Ryushi
昭和３５年にロビーを含む月の棟の改装にあたり、工事の監修をしていただいた
川端龍子画伯 に書いて頂いたもの。
当時は新井旅館でなく、 「名月荘あらゐ」 と言っていました。
The calligraphy is by Japanese painting artist Ryushi Kawabata
to commemorate Tsuki Wing renovation in 1960. The renovation
was completed under his supervise.
Arai Ryokan was then called "Meigetsuso Arai" (villa of bright
moon Arai).
腰 忘 帯 為相原大人嘱 大観
Yo Bo Tai for Master Aihara by Taikan
横山大観画伯 に書いて頂いたものですが、大観画伯の書は珍しいようです。
為相原大人（うし）嘱（しょく）＝「館主の相原さんの為に書きました。」という意味です。
腰に帯を忘れる＝「ここに居ると、本当にゆったりした気分になる」
とお客様にお話しています。
The calligraphy is by Yokoyama Taikan, the master of Japanese painting.
His calligraphy is very few. His autograph in the calligraph says " I write
this specially for Mr. Aihara, the master of ryokan".
Interpretation of Yo Bo Tai is "forget to wear a sash around the waist"
which can be translated that "When I am here in this ryokan, I get so
relaxed",
