今日は夕方の玄関の様子です。

この風景はおよそ４５年変わっていません。
Nothing has changed much in fourty years.
昭和３５年に川端龍子画伯の考証で、玄関ロビーと月の棟の改装以来、このままです。
Tha sight has remained the same since the lobby and Tsuki Wing renovation in
1960 under the historical investigation byJapanese painting artist, Kawabata Ryushi.
今日は玄関に 扉（トベラ）の木 を置いてみました。
A tree of tobera (door) is arranged today at the entrance.
白い花はいい匂いがするのですが、枝や葉を切ると特殊な匂いがします。
木を燃やしたりすると、悪臭漂ってしまうので要注意です。
そのため、魔よけとして節分などにこの木を扉にさしたことから、
扉の木→トビラの木→トベラの木となまっていったようです。
White flower has frangrance, but branch or leaf has special smell when you
cut them. Need causion when you burn the tree, Strong smell floats around
in air. For that reason, the people stick the branch on the door to chase evil
spirits away on the special occasions such as setsubun ( a seasonal watershed).
So, we call them a tree of door, tobera ( originally pronounced as tobira).
