国宝 法隆寺金堂展
National Treasure Horyuji Kon-do Exhibition
が開催されています。
is held until July 21(Mon).
法隆寺といえば聖徳太子によって建てられた、日本で初めての世界文化遺産ですが、
Horyuji Temple in Nara was built by Prince Shotoku and the first world heritage in Japan
and its Kon-do(golden temple) is known as the world oldest wooden structure.
昭和２４年(1949）１月２６日金堂が出火し、
The fire broke out at Kon-do in 1949
４壁１２面の国宝である壁画は焼損してしまいました。
and the painting on the four walls, the national treasure, were burnt.
当時再生不可能とまでいわれたこの壁画
It was beleived at the time that the painting reproduction was impossible.
焼損から１８年後の昭和４２年、画壇の精鋭１４氏に委嘱され、
In 1967, 18 years after the fire, the reproduction was entrusted to 14
leading artists of Japan.
１４人の精鋭と４０人の助手により、昭和４３年見事によみがえりました。
Reproduction has been achieved in 1968 by the team of 14 artists and
40 assistants.
その大所帯の総監修の二人が
Two leaders of the big team are:
安田靫彦（やすだゆきひこ）画伯
Maestro Yasuda Yukihiko
と
前田青邨（まえだせいそん）画伯
Maestro Maeda Seison
共に新井旅館三代目相原沐芳と深い交流を持った方々です。
Both of them are close friend of the third generation master of Arai,
Aihara Mokuhou.
今回の展覧会は、金堂の須弥壇改修を機に、
金堂内にある日本最古の四天王像の他、
この復元された壁画１２面も展示されています。
At the exhibition, the reproduced painting and the oldest statue of four demons
and other valuable properties are displayed.
