新井旅館自慢の風呂
それは
「天平大浴堂」
通称 天平風呂
Pride of Arai Ryokan
"Tempyo Bath House"
National Registered Cultural Property
この天平風呂は、昭和６年より３年の歳月と巨費を投じて完成しました。
実はこの写真ですが、昭和１０年ころの絵葉書から引用したものなんです。
下の写真が今日撮りました天平風呂です。
７０年以上経過していますが、何も変わっ ていません。
It took three years, from 1931 to 1934, to build the bath hose.

The photo below are shot today. Nothing has changed!
昔の旅館の風呂と現在のホテルなどの風呂との大きな違い・・・
昔の風呂は温泉を掘り当て、自噴させて使用していますので、だいたい低い階にあったようですが、
現在はポンプで温泉をあげたりしていますので、見晴らしの良い最上階などにある場合が多いようです。
新井旅館は昔ながらの風呂ですので、ほとんどが地階（外の池よりも下）です。
風呂に浸かって窓を眺めると外の池を泳ぐ鯉と目が合ってしまいます。
All bath houses of Arai Ryokan, except the open air bath, are built in the traditional method,
built lower than groud floor, lower than a surface of pond. You can watch carps swimming in
the pond as you soak yourself in the tub.

今は・・・

まわりの紅葉でちょっと見えにくくなっています。
中と違って、外の景色は変わっています。
なにしろ７０年も経っていますから・・・
