昨日は、素敵な1日やった。
Yesterday was a great day.
仲が良い友達、かえさん、と久しぶりに会った。
I met my good friend Kae for the first time in a while.
かえさんは、英語が上手になりたいけん、よく英語でラインのやりとりをする。
Kae really likes English, so we often chat on LINE in English.
そして、会う時、英語でお話をする。めっちゃ発音が上手い。
And when we are able to get together, we talk in English, too. Her pronunciation is amazing.
さすがアナウンサーだ。殆どのアナウンサーは、英語の発音が綺麗。
I’ve found most of my announcer friends have great pronunciation.

自粛が終わって、やっと友達に会えるようになったアンちゃんは、超幸せだ。
I’m so glad to be able to see my friends again.
やっぱり、友達が大事だ。
Friends are really important.
何かがなくなる、できなくなる時に、どんだけそれが、自分にとって大事なのかと、実感する。
It’s not until you lose something that you know how much it means to you.
私にとって、友達は宝物だ。
Friends mean everything to me.
やけん、今日は[友達用語] について話したいと思う。
So today I’m going to teach you how to talk about friendship in English.

誰もが、英語のfriendという単語がわかる。
Everybody knows the English word “friend.”
日本語にも、当てはまる単語が多い。
There are many words in Japanese that can be translated as “friend.”
友人。友達。仲間。味方。全部は、friend.
These are all “friend.”
日本語のニュアンスは、微妙に違うけれど、英語のfriendは幅広く使われている。
In Japanese, these words have slightly different nuances, but the word “friend” in English has a wide variety of meanings.
あまり仲良くなくてもfriendを使うこともある。
We even use it when we are not that close.
仕事の同僚も、friendだ。
Or to refer to a colleague from work.
オールマイティ、いつでも使える便利な単語だ。
This is a word that can be used in a variety of ways in a variety of situations.
じゃ、親友や仲が良い友達は、どうやって説明する？
So how do you refer to an especially good friend?
good friend
close friend
みたいな表現を使う。
[彼女とバリ仲が良い。]
“She’s a really good friend.”
“She’s a really close friend.”
We are closeでもいい。
[私たちは、仲が良い] という意味だ。
[仲良い] は、英語でcloseという。
[弟と仲が良いですか？]
“Are you close to your brother?”
[両親とめっちゃ仲が良い.]
“I’m really close to my parents.”
日本語で、一番仲が良い友達は、[ベストフレンド] か [大親友]という。
In Japanese, your closest friend is called your besuto furendo or daishinyu
英語でも、best friendという。
In English, we say “best friend.”
“She has been my best friend since high school.”
“We have been best friends since we were kids.”
スラングは、BFFかbestieという。
Slang is “bestie” or “BFF.”
かなり若者用語だ。けれど、私も使う。若くないのに。笑笑。男性は、あまり使わない。
It’s used mostly by young people, but I must confess that I use it too. Guys don’t use this much.
BFFは、Best Friend Foreverの略だ。
“I’m going shopping with my bestie.”
“She’s my BFF.”
