前回の記事でBoy１の誕生日の家族でのお祝いについて書いたかと思います（ま、実際にはケーキについてだけですが。。。）。でもここオランダ、誕生日ってすごく重要なのです。家族でのお祝いの他にも色々としないといけません。まずは「誕生日のふるまい」。きっと何度もここにも書いているかと思いますが、ここ、オランダでは自分が誕生日だと友達や同僚、クラスメートに”ふるまい（ケーキとか）”を持って行かなくてはなりません。
In the previous piece, I wrote about our family celebration of Boy1's birthday. But birthdays are quite important here in the Netherlands, so there are many more things to organize. The first one is the "birthday treat". I probably wrote about it several times already, but it is common here that you bring a treat (like cake) to your friends, colleagues and classmates when it's your birthday.
ということで、Boy１の学校に何を持って行きましょうかね？？事前に色々考えて、小さなスイーツはどうかなーと。材料を揃えて、数日前の夜に試作。次の日の朝、食べてみたBoy1は「美味しい！でも甘いもん持ってきたらあかんねんで」と。おいおい、早く言ってくれよー。
So.... what could we bring for Boy1's birthday treat in school? I thought about it for some time and came up with an idea to make small sweets. I bought all the ingredients and experimented a few days before the date of the treat. Boy1 tried it and said, "Delicious! But we cannot bring sweets to school.". Hey.... please say so earlier...
ということで、再び何か考えなくてはならなくなりました。甘いものではなく、それでも子供達がもらって嬉しいもの・・・。私個人的にはなんかちょっと日本っぽさを入れたい・・・（尚且つ、もちろん簡単なもの。）。何にしたと思います？
I needed to reconsider our options for the treat. No sweets, but still something the children would be happy to get. And I really want to add an essence of Japaneseness. What do you think we chose?
ジャジャーン、なんとタコさんウインナー！目は黒ゴマで、口は人参でつけました。日本ではお弁当の必須アイテムですよね、（ま、目と口はあまり付けないけど）でもオランダじゃあんまり知られてない！これで日本のちょっと面白い（変な？）文化？も紹介できるかなと。
Octopus-shape sausages, the so called Tako-san wiener! The eyes were made of sesame seeds and the mouth was made of carrot. It is a very common lunch box item in Japan (usually without eyes and mouth), but I don't think it is here. I wanted to introduce some funny (crazy) Japanese culture.
最終的には健康的にちょこっと野菜もつけて、こんな仕上がりに。ただのちっちゃいウインナー。でもこうするとちょっとすごく見えません？
We added some healthy vegetables and the final product looked like this. It is just a small sausage, but it looks quite specutacular, doesn't it?
甘いものはダメでウインナーだったら良いのか、全く意味がわかりませんが、、まあ今年もなんとか乗り切れたかなと。Boy1が喜んで持って行ってくれたらそれで良いのですわ。
I wonder what is wrong about sweets and why the sausage is ok... but anyway, we could again manage this year. As long as Boy1 is happy to bring them.
