我らの旅行のメイン目的地、レゴランドからの帰り道、ドイツでも１箇所数泊する事にしてました。デンマークからそこへ向かう道中、昼食をとろうとドイツの港町の一つ、キールという街に立ち寄りました。街の中心部も結構良い感じだったのですが、我らはちょっと街から離れて、海岸へ行ってみることに（良い天気だったしね）。Laboeと呼ばれるこの場所、戦争記念がらみのものが数点。
On the way back from our main destination, Legoland, we also stayed at one location in Germany. On the way from Denmark to there, we stopped by Kiel, a German habour city, to have lunch. The city center area looked nice as well but we decided to go a bit away from the city, to a beach. The area is called Laboe. There is some war-related memorial stuff.
良い天気の中、Laboeの海岸でささっとピクニックランチを楽しみ、その後その戦争がらみの場所２箇所訪れることに。当然子供達は海岸遊びに夢中で、ろくにランチも食べませんでしたけどね。
We had a quick picnic lunch at the beach of Laboe and visited two things. Of course children were too busy playing to eat lunch...
「さ、トイレに行こう！」を理由にしてようやく子供達を海岸から離すことができた我々、まずはLaboe海軍記念碑へ。ここは高い塔で塔の中の地下には戦争で亡くなったドイツの海軍兵を祀る場所があります。この慰霊場所はとても厳粛な所なので、もちろん我らは避けたのですが（ものすごいうるさい子供達が一緒ですから）、この高い塔の上まで登ってみましたよ。この塔、内部が吹き抜けになっていて、登っている最中、ほぼ一番したの床が常に見えるのです。かなり怖いですよー。（Dropさん、ここでもかなり辛い目に 笑）でも全部上がりきってしまうと、そこからの眺めは本当に素晴らしい！
We made "to go to the toilet" into a reason to leave the beach and head to the Laboe Naval Memorial. It is a huge tower and there is a commemoration place for German soldiers who died during the war in the basement. The commemoration room was a very serious place, so we of course avoid going there (with very noisy children). We only climbed this huge tower. The interior of the tower is built in a wellhole style, so you can look down to the bottom. It was quite scary. (Again, Drop had a tough time there..) But once we had climbed all the way up, the view was magnificent!

ささっと塔に登った後は、こちらに移動。
After we had quickly gone up and down the tower, we moved on to this.
これはこの記念碑の隣にあります。何かわかりますか？これはドイツの潜水艦、ユーボートと呼ばれるもの。今は博物館として開かれています。かっこいい！
It is standing next to this memorial. Do you know what? This is a real German submarine, U-boat. It is now open as a museum. Cool!
中はかなり狭い・・・。１６０cmの私ですら真っ直ぐ立って歩ける箇所ばかりではなく。大きな男性の兵隊さんたちのこの潜水艦での生活はかなり辛いものだったのではないだろうかと想像できます。
Inside, it was very narrow. I could not nearly walk straight up all the time (and I am only 160 cm). I can imagine the life in the submarine must have been very tough for those guys.

私がここで、戦争について考えたり、書いたりすると、ブログが重くなるし、不適切だと（私は）思うので、このブログでは旅行報告という形でさらっと終わることにします。我らのBoyたちはこの訪問をかなり楽しんだということで。
When I think/write about war related things, it easily becomes very heavy and a bit inappropriate (I think). I limit this to trip reports, and also the fact that the Boys enjoyed visiting those places.
