「オランダは小さな子供のいる家族に優しい国である」
多くの人がそう言います。でもそれって本当？
”The Netherlands is a friendly country for families with small children.”
Many people say so. Is it true?
私が思う限り、その通りかと。もし私が子供連れで込んだ電車に乗ろうものなら、極めて高い確率で誰かが席を譲ってくれるし、子供達が小さかった頃、私がどこかでベビーカーで立ち往生していると、すぐに誰か来てくれて助けてくれました。子供連れでパン屋さんに行くと、子供たちは必ずパンのかけら（といっても結構でかい）を貰えるし。ま、これはパン屋に限らずいろんな店で見られます。子供たちはものすごい大切にされている感じがしませんか？
In my opinion, yes. When I am on a busy train with my children, in most cases someone offers to give up their seat. When our children were small and I got stuck with the baby car, people immediately came to help me. When I go to the bakery with children, they always get a free snack. The same is true, in fact, for many shops. Children are usually cared about a lot.
でも、外食となると、状況は少し変わってくるのです。特にここら田舎町では小さな子供連れでサッと入れるような簡単なレストランなんてほとんどありません。結構なケースで、子供メニューがなかったり、子供イスがなかったり、トイレにはオムツ替えるスペースもなかったりして。でも私は日本人、外食を全くせずに家でパンばっかり食べるなんて耐えられなーい！！時々は（頻繁に？）外食したいのです。さて、どこなら行ける？
But in the case of eating out, the situation is slightly different. Especially here in the countryside area, there are almost no simple restaurants where we can go with small children. Sometimes, restaurants have no children menu, chair and diaper changing place. But since I am Japanese, and used to eating out frequently and cheaply, it is not so easy/satisfactory to always eat at home. I sometimes (frequently) want to eat out. Where can we go?
マクドナルド。ほぼココのみですな。
McDonald's. That's basically it.
結果として、我が家にはものすごい数のマクドナルドのハッピーセットのおもちゃが・・・。すごく良いのもあれば、あれ？というのも、もちろんたくさん。でも少なくとも子供達は毎回何かもらえて嬉しいみたい。
As a consequence, we have a huge collection of happy meal toys. Some are nice and some are...less nice. But at least children are extremely happy to get something everytime.
ある日、Babyがマクドナルドのおもちゃ入れ（大きな箱にまとめて入れてます）から面白いおもちゃを見つけて来ました。下の短い動画をご覧あれ。
One day, Baby found an interesting toy from the McDonald's toy box. Look at the small movie below.
踊るBaby。ディスコ音楽を聴きながら踊っています。動画の半分ぐらいのところから、Babyが持っているものが見えるかもしれません。これはなんと2016年にもらったマクドナルドのおもちゃでした。金色のスーツを着た太った豚が手を高くあげています。近くで手を叩くと、このブタさんがディスコの音楽を鳴らすのです。
Dancing Baby. He is listening disco music and dancing. In the middle of the movie, you can see the thing he is holding. It is a toy from Mcdonald's (we got it in 2016!). A fat pig wearing a gold suit punching the sky! When you clap your hands, the pig plays disco music.
すごく簡単で素晴らしいおもちゃです。現在のところ、BoyもBabyも取合いしながら遊んでいます。でもちょっとしたらどっかいってしまって、しばらくはお目にかかることもないんだろうなー。で、2020年くらいのいつかBoyがBabyがまた見つけて遊び始めるのかも。もし、もっと大きくなったマクドナルとのオモチャコレクションから見つけることができれば、の話ですが。。
It is a simple and great toy and it has been played with a lot by both boys (Boy too). But I can easily imagine that it will be gone somewhere and never be seen for a while. Then sometime in 2020, Boy or Baby may find it again and maybe play with it. If, of course, it can ever be dug up again from the ever expanding Mcdonald's toy box....
