Love for the pets.
The other day I went to a non-profit animal center
in Kansai called ARK (Animal Refugee Kansai) to
make a donation on behalf of my friend from Hawaii,
Roy-chan. He is a huge animal lover, and he wanted
to do something to help those who were suffering
from the March 11 disaster.
I heard many pets were left behind when it all happened,
and many couldn't escape since they were on a leash
or tied up. There are still many within the 20km radius
of the power plant, and it hurts me to know that they
are still there, waiting for their owners to come back,
suffering without food and water.
Roy-chan, thanks for encouraging me to
find a way to help these animals!

me to the NPO, too.
私のハワイのお友達、Royちゃんはとても動物好きで
東日本の震災で困っている動物達の為に寄付をしてきて
と頼まれて、先日私はNPO法人ARKに行ってきました。
沢山の動物がこの震災の犠牲になっていると聞き、
胸が痛みました。
逃げようとしても繋がれていて逃げられなかった動物達。
逃げられるのに、飼い主が帰って来るのをずっと待っている
動物達。水も食べ物も無い中でなんてかわいそう。。
動物はいつも人間の犠牲になってしまう。
だからこそ、何か私にも出来ればと思い
今回Royちゃんの寄付金を渡すのにどこが良いか
一生懸命さがしました。
もちろん、手渡し出来る所。
まるで運命かのように、ハワイに帰る数日前に一緒に
ランチをしたお友達がARKの事を教えてくれて、
一緒に行ってくれました。
ARK's main station is in Kansai, but since Tokyo
is closer to Fukushima, the Tokyo office is being
used as a temporary shelter for cats and dogs.
When I went to go visit, all the dogs came and
sat on my lap!
They all wanted some attention and love and
were so cute and lovable.
ARKは、関西にあるNPO法人なのですが福島には
東京の方が近いという事で東京支部の方でも役１５匹
ぐらいワンちゃんと猫ちゃんがいました。
ドアを開けた瞬間みんな嬉しくて、しっぽを一生懸命に
ふって、私のお膝の上に座ってくる犬、ぺろぺろなめる犬、
みんな愛が欲しくてたまらないのでしょう。
みんなとっても可愛いくて。。離したくなかったです。
These pets are up for adoption and are well taken
care of here.
When they were found, some of them were sick and
in poor health, but ARK took them in,
cared for them and gave them medical care.
The Director of ARK in Tokyo told me to never
adopt a pet because you pity them.
To have a pet is a long-term serious responsibility.
It costs money and takes up your time and attention.
This is so true.
I myself would love to adopt a pet, but I know that
with the life I have now, it just wouldn't work.

みんな里親をまっているわんチャンと猫ちゃん達です。
発見された時は、ほとんどの子がワクチンがされていなく
病気で状態が悪かったのですが、ARKさんは
ちゃんとワクチンを受けさせ、治療をして、みんなとっても
良くケアーされていました。
ARKのデイレクターさんがおっしゃったのが、里子に出しても
帰ってくるケースがたまにあるそうで。
それは、里子に出た子達のせいではなく里親の勘違いからだそうです。
ペットを飼うという事は大きな責任、お金もかかります、
そして、時間も愛も注いであげなくてはいけません。
それを覚悟してから里親になってもらわないと
里子にでても帰って来てしまうようでは、ペットがかわいそう。
私ももちろんこの目の前に居る子達と一緒に過ごしたい！
と思うけれども、現実的に考えると今の生活では無理。
なので里親を考えて下さる方は、引き取る前にもう一度
考え、どんな事があっても一生面倒をみる。という
覚悟を持って飼ってくださいね。
一日も早くこの子達が幸せになれますように。。
