Lenkimai

Hello, I would like to introduce LENKIMAI, a small and cozy Lithuanian town. Beautiful nature, but unfortunately, some strange brown waterキョロキョロ.

Lenkimai, a town in the municipality of Skuodas district, 16 km southwest of Skuodas, on the Latvian border; the center of the precinct, parish. 513 inhabitants (2021). The Sventoji River flows along its western edge (Latvia's border runs along it). Highways to Skuoda, Kretinga, Mosėdis. Bends - rectangular plan. St.  Anne's Church (built in 1848); it contains art monuments. Post office, medical center, primary school (1915–19 government primary school, 1919–47 primary school, 1947–52 secondary school, 1952–2001 secondary school; school museum is open), cultural center, library (1953). In Lenkim Square, there is a monument to S. Daukantas (built in 1993; sculptor R. Midvikis, architect A. Skiezgelas). 3 km east of Lenkimi is the Kalvii mound, 4 km east - the birthplace of S. Daukanta (Kalviai), 2 km southwest - the Margininkai Botanical Zoological Reserve.

History

It is believed that Lenkimai settled around 1560 during the Vlach reform.
