What’s their intention in providing children with an open-ended play experience?
-The children can lead and decide where they’re going to go with that experience.

There are different ways to nurture creativity and curiosity. How does your approach differ from traditional methods like reading books?
-It’s interesting because I think that what we build and what we make is influenced a lot on(by) those traditional play patterns. I think the big difference for us is watching and thinking about what children are going to be curious about. And then providing them a world or play experience that is open-ended so that they can read and decide where they’re going to go with that experience. Unlike a book has a beginning, a middle and an end. The types of mobile that we produce have no beginning middle and end but they have multiple stories within them that are told that are led by the children.
-I see. How do you differentiate your products from those of your competitors who make similar learning tools?
-I’d say, a lot of what we do is looking at grounding what we make in the things that kids are naturally interested in and using that as the catalyst for learning. We don’t say, hey, we need kids to be able to count. We need kids to be able to read. All of that is in our product. But we don’t start with that. We start with what do we think kids are going to ask questions about, what is a topic that they are going to be interested in. And then that drives a lot of what we do. And there’s power in that because if a child thinks it’s going to be interesting or fun, then they’re more likely to be engaged with it and they’re more likely to learn. And I think that is a big differentiator for us with our competitors. Our competitors rely a lot more on traditional early learning tactics. They rely more on assessment. They rely on having outcomes. And I would say that we’re less strict on the outcomes and we’re more concerned with the curiosity and the engagement.
