And here's your conversation partner around the Paciffic.

Hi everyone. I'm Catherine Leland. Try to complete a conversation with me today in your own words. -Here we go!

---

Communicate with kids in Fiji.

Imagine this..

You are together with some children and they want to play in the park. You will talk to one child about games like tag and hide and seek. But there are other people in the park. So don't let the child disturb other people. Okay?

---

Alright. We have an encore performance from Catherine. Do you have your child actor voice. -Let's play together!

---

So try to have a seven turn conversation as you play with me in the park.

---

Do you want to play together in the park?  -> wanna

-Sure. What do you want to play?

-Do you know how to play tag?

-In Japan it's called 鬼ごっこ something like the devil is chasing you.

-I wanna play tag. I'm it. Ready? * it = 鬼

-Well, we don't want to disturb other people in the park. So let's play a different game. Any ideas?

-How about hide and seek? Do you know how to play hide and seek?

-Yeah, we don't want to go too far away though.

-Okay. Who's gonna hide and who's gonna count?

-I'll count and you'll hide.

-Let'd do rock paper scissors. The winner hides. The loser seeks.
Ready? Rock paper scissors shoots!
I win. I'll hide. Go ahead and count.

-Okay, just promise you will not hide somewhere far away. One .. tow...

---

Catherine. When you were a child, which did you like better, tag or hide and seek?

-I was really slow as a kid, so hide and seek was my favorite.

-Mine too. In New Zealand, what did you do for fun as a child?

-When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time in my tree hut

-Tree hut? Do you know everyone? The differnece in New Zealand English and American English. So in New Zealand, they call it a tree hut, but in the US, it's a tree house

-That's right.

---

We don't want to disturb other people in the park.

We don't want to go too farway though.

--

We are going to Tahiti.

Let's go to an island with beautiful art and cuisine, Tahiti. You'll emprove your conversation skills there.

And do you remember this month's theme? Communicate with kids in Fiji!

So let's check out today's scene.

Imagine this...

Today, you go to a cultural village in Fine by bus. But inside the bus, there are children and you are helping them to get to the cultural village. One child needs your help. She got car sick

Did you imagine the situation? So try to have an eight-turn conversation as you help a child on a bus.

---

Excuse me. When will we arrive?

-We will arrive in a few moments.

-Oh... okay.

-Are you going to be okay?

-I got a little car sick. I might throw up.

-Okay, just take a deep breath and relax. And just use this bag if you throw up. You are going to be okay.

-Thanks. I think I'm going to be okay. You're not car sick?

-I'm fine. But I need to take a bio break after we arrive.

-Oh.. I can't find my phone. What time is it now?

-It's ten o'clock.

-Does your phone work here in Fiji?

-Yes, of course.

-Oh look! The cutural village. Thanks goodness. And thanks for being a chaperone for our trip.

-My pleasure. I hope you feel better.

---

* 引率/ 引率する人-> chaperone

A guide or companion whose purpose is to ensure propriety or restrict activity:

Have you ever been a chaperone?

I don't think so. What about you?

Actually, when I came to Japan, I worked in a small school in Gifu prefecture. And I was not an official chaparone, but I went on a school trip once. It's so fun to work and communicate with kids.

Unless they get car sick.

---

We talked about getting car sick.

Do you get car sick easily, Catherine?

Well, I get car sick and I get sea sick and I get air sick, too.

Really?

Yeah, I just have bad motionsickness.
Is there any time when you don't have motionsickness?

Maybe walking is the only way I don't get sick.

Walking... I see.

Do you get car sick easily?

It's get easier, the more you practice.
