How does Lon feel about hearing from Risa during her business trip?
What kind of care does Lon show to Risa?
-----
Subject: Mr. Aoki. Mamma Rosa.
Hi Lisa!
And I'm sorry that I seem to be following you on your business trips every day. In fact, Aoki-san, the manager of the Italian restaurant Mamma Rosa in Ginza contacted me just now wanting to consult with you about the wine to be served at the party. I told Aoki-san that you were on a business trip to London. And I tried to consult with him. But I got he impression that he wanted to talk to you. He said it will be fine after you return home. I was going to ask Ono-san to respond, but Mamma Rosa is your long-standing customer, so I wanted to ask you first.
Regards,
Ron

Hi Ron,
Thank you for letting me know. I will contact Mr. Aoki myself. Morning in London is evening in Tokyo, so it'll be no problem at all. It's a bit complicated. So I think it would be best to speak to him directly by phone or online. If I'm unable to accomodate Mr. Aoki's request, I'll contact you.
Regards.

When we asked foreign guest at the checkout how their stay was, the answer isn't variably. We enjoied it very much. So it's hard to know what they really thought.
-If you want to ask about areas for improvement, perhaps you can follow that answer with, "Is there anything we can improve on? We would love to hear from you." Then they would probably tell you what they really found.
I'm a sociable person so I generaly like parties. But if I don't know anyone, I can't be bothered to talk to them.
-It's the same for everyone. Why don't you show that you want to talk to people around you. Just put a smile on your face. That way people will start talking to you without you having to find someone to talk to.

So today we are heading for Guildford, the county town of Surrey, situated around thirty miles south west of London. Have you heard of the town?
- The name sounds famillier to me because I have a friend who studyed at university of Surrey. She told me a lot about Guildford. She loved the authentic English atomspher and its surrounding picturesque villages.
-I see, well, your friend would be right. It's a beautiful town with a medieval castle, a Cathedral and busy shopping center. Yet it's surrounded by stunning coutry side.
- Sounds attractive. What made you decide to build a warehouse there?
-Guildford outperformed other candidates in terms of logistics and branding. The Heathrow airport is just twenty miles away and the town is popular among relatively welloff people working in London. So it matched our branding strategy.

We've chosen Cambodia as a second production base after Vietnam. The infrastructure is still fragile but the Southern Economic Corridor is a transnational project. The fact that the garment industry accounts for more than sixty percent of the total manufacturing GDP is also a reassuring factor.

ラジオビジネス英語 Interview(2-3)6月23日(金) Tom Mayes トム・メイズ
What are the characteristics of Japanese companies in terms of HR as a whole?
- They really care about all of their people.
Who did HR policies in global companies tend to focus their resources on?
- The porlicy tends to fucus on resources on the key roles, the key positions or the key talents.
-----
So you used to be in charge of tarent management at a Japanese company. What do you think other differences between Japanese and foreign companies in terms of corporate HR strategies and employee attitudes toward personal development?
-So first of all, I would say maybe personally um... I do not like so much categorizing is a Japanese company or global company. Because I think not all companies can't be categorized .. as one of the other. But if you were to press me, I would say I personally see a few broad differences between HR in Japanese company and global compnay. So first of all I will speak about maybe HR as a whole, and I will speak specifically about learning and development. So in terms of HR as a whole, for Japanese companies I think they are very good at looking after the whole. And they really really care about the people. And they have I feel Japanese companies have strong sense of purpose. I think Japan, Japanese companies have always been very good, great in a strong sense of purpose. And I think that is why in the Japanese companies that I have worked for I felt a very strong sense of dedication from the employees towards the company cause. I kind of see Japanese companies as kind of a big family. And I think the HR practices in Japanese companies are set up to suport every body. They're designed to support the whole. Whereas on the other hand, I feel that in global companies HR policies tend to be more focused on the key roles, the key positions, or the key talents. And resources tent to be direct towards those few people. And maybe the others are expendable. They can leave the company if they chose to so there is more maybe fluidity, uh... in the workce I think in global companies. So that's one, one big difference I feel when think about .. HR policy.
